The six-month program is to find best-in-class enterprise or consumer applications that take advantage of the mobile broadband and GPS capabilities built into Sierra Wireless PC cards, ExpressCards, and USB modems. As part of Phase 1, written applications were submitted by groups focusing in all sectors of the developer community, including those developing for Location Based Services (LBS), New Media and Social Networking. Phase 2 involves the participants creating working prototypes of their applications. All will be given a Sierra Wireless software development kit, wireless aircard, and support from Sierra Wireless and Wavefront to assist in building their applications. The developers will also have access to Wavefront’s rich mobile business industry knowledge as well as technical knowledge and test environment. Best-in-class winners will be selected in October and will be considered for incorporation on Sierra Wireless AirCards, promotional support, and widespread distribution by major mobile operators.
