Wavefront’s facility is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Whether you need access to usability lab equipment or resources to assist with planning, facilitation and analysis, Wavefront’s Usability Lab and Testing Service is a great resource for developers of wireless applications and hardware. In addition to standard usability services, Wavefront provides a suite of training, advisory, testing and incubation services that accelerate mobile developers’ time to market.
 

USABILITY SERVICES

Facility Rental ($500 CAD/DAY)

Wavefront’s Usability Lab and Recording Equipment is available to both developers and usability consultants.  The daily rental fee includes the following amenities:

• Testing Room
• Observation Room (space for up to 10 people)
• Mobile Device Cradle Camera
• High Resolution multi-camera video recording system
• Use of OVO Studios data capture software for logging real-time observations
• DVD of raw test footage

Heuristic Evaluation (quote available upon request)

Wavefront has partnered with mobile usability experts to provide its members with heuristic evaluations, a technique where evaluators examine the user interface and judge its compliance with recognized usability principles.

• The process begins by working with you to establish your testing objectives and designing a test plan to meet those goals.
• A usability professional executes the test plan and evaluates your user interface against a set of industry standards.
• The data from the test is compiled and your UI is issued a score or grade. You are provided with a report which includes a list of areas for improvement and a detailed set of prioritized recommendations. The usability professional then reviews the results with you to refine the recommended actions into practical solutions.
  

End-User Usability Studies (quote available upon request)

Wavefront partners with local organizations to provide end-to-end usability study services where representative end-users are recruited and a professional facilitator conducts test sessions to gather data on the ‘usability’ of your application or mobile device.

As an output of this process, you are provided with a report which includes a list of areas for improvement and a detailed set of prioritized recommendations. The usability professional then meets with you to review the results and refine the recommended actions into practical solutions.
