Working together with its established organizations, wavefront provides the wireless developer community with neutral, independent test services and the market knowledge to enable rapid commercialization. The recent agreement between wavefront and NAVTEQ will provide wireless developers with access to such premium resources as NAVTEQ® map data and the NAVTEQ Network for Developers™ (NN4D), a dynamic online web portal that provides developers and business partners with the technical and business support needed to build, showcase and launch the most innovative location-enabled solutions.

"wavefront will help enable a great number of wireless developers to meet the rigorous requirements of national and international mobile operators in a cost-effective manner," commented Winston Guillory, senior vice president, consumer and enterprise, NAVTEQ. wavefront™ to Provide Services to Catalyze Wireless Developer Marketplace
The government of the province of British Columbia has shown its strong support of the wireless industry in BC through its recent funding of wavefront. The Ministry of Advanced Education has provided $5 million in funding to help wavefront with startup and operational costs. wavefront will provide testing and commercialization services to the wireless developer community.

wavefront (recently renamed from WINLAB) began as an initiative of the Wireless Innovation Network of BC (WINBC), with endorsement from the BC Premier's Technology Council. wavefront is the commercialization bridge between the wireless developer community and the mobile operators, government and large enterprises that are deploying new wireless products and services. In collaboration with a number of technology and other partners, wavefront provides this community with neutral, independent test services and the market knowledge to enable rapid commercialization of their products.

"We are extremely pleased at the support that wavefront has received from government, private sector partners and sponsors. Very soon, we will begin offering product test and commercialization support services to BC's world class wireless community and to other industries that rely on wireless technologies to drive their businesses forward," said Caroline Lewko, Founding Chair of wavefront.

Jim Maynard, wavefront's President, noted: "wavefront is all about closing the gap between the domestic and international wireless markets, and BC's strong wireless and new media developer communities."
