SUMMARY

The GSMA has put together this global initiative called OneAPI. It's all about network APIs and making it easier for application developers to work with the operators - you only develop to OneAPI, have one set of terms and conditions, and get access to multiple carriers.

The first pilot is in Canada, with Bell, Rogers and TELUS! And the first APIs open are messaging, location and operator billing. We need developers to work it, play with it and tell us WHAT YOU THINK! Other international operators will follow shortly. So get in on the ground floor now!

Join us on May 20 for a briefing session in Vancouver where you can learn more about this initiative and how you can participate. There will be representatives from GSMA, Aepona, Bell, TELUS, and Rogers Communications present to address your comments and questions.

Following the briefing will be a hack-a-thon session where you can code to the network API of your choice (messaging, location, payment). We suggest you come in teams of at least two people: one person who can get down and dirty with the code and one person who can get analytical about the processes and business model. Bring your laptop and an application you want to port to the network GSMA OneAPI. We'll provide the open access, technical and support teams on site, sample code if needed, and connection to the internet.

We anticipate the coding time to take about an hour. Then we'll hang out with beer and pizza and get to hear your feedback; and give away some prizes.
