Wavefront Announces New Vice-President Eastern Region

VANCOUVER, CANADA – Wavefront, the commercialization centre accelerating the growth of Canada’s wireless companies, announced today that it has expanded its executive team with the appointment of Hélène Joncas as Vice President Eastern Region, based in Ottawa.

Wireless technologies are impacting our daily lives like no other before it and, as the worldwide market for the wireless industry approaches $1 trillion, success in this industry will contribute significantly to the Canadian economy. Wavefront has an excellent track record in accelerating the commercialization of wireless companies in British Columbia. As such, late last year, the federal government entrusted Wavefront with a national mandate to provide Canadian wireless companies with the support and resources required to grow and succeed.

As Vice President Eastern Region, Joncas will work with Wavefront’s partners to help Canadian innovators overcome major go-to-market hurdles by offering them global market linkages, cost-effective testing and validation services, business and technical training, and advisory services.

Joncas brings more than 20 years of experience in innovation driven organizations in the private and not-for-profit sectors having founded two start-ups in the wireless space, imGenie and SIPquest (now CounterPath). While at Nortel, she held senior roles in the Wireless line of business, was responsible for the Nortel-Microsoft relationship, and lead the development of Unified Communications solutions for the Carrier market.

Prior to joining Wavefront, Joncas was Chief Strategy Officer at CANARIE where she conceived and fostered the development of a cloud initiative aimed at accelerating innovation and commercialization among small and medium tech companies. She also drove the organization’s government relations, partnership, marketing and communications activities.
