Discovery Foundation funds expansive technology education programming

Longtime industry partner takes leadership role in collaborative learning programs

Wavefront is one of the Foundation's agents to deliver wireless and new media-focused educational programs.

VANCOUVER , B.C. – The Discovery Foundation Technology Education Program will deliver more than $300,000 in funding technology-focused educational programs for students and entrepreneurs. Its agents to deliver the Foundation’s programs are BC Technology Industry Association (BCTIA), ACETECH, Wavefront, Simon Fraser University (SFU) and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).

“Discovery Foundation is pleased to collaborate with industry through education programs and to contribute to commercialization from the British Columbia technology sectors. Programs that reach students and entrepreneurs will assist them in moving their inventions from the bench to the market place,” said Dr. Bernie Bressler, Chairman of the Board, Discovery Foundation.

Programs, many of which are province-wide and begin as early as March 31, 2010 cover professional development, mentor-in-resident programs, discussion forums, commercialization and webinars. The mix of educational institutions with organizations dedicated to CEO mentoring and the commercialization of wireless and new media applications will bridge education with industry.
