Wavefront launches WaveGuide  training to create more technical and business learning opportunities for British Columbia's mobile industry
Nov. 25 session focuses on accessing government capital and Dec. 10 session provides training on functionality and performance testing of wireless applications and hardware.

VANCOUVER, B.C.; November 20, 2008 - Wavefront, the community-based commercialization center for British Columbia's 1,000 wireless and new media development companies, announces the launch of WaveGuide™, its technical and executive training program for B.C.'s mobile industry. WaveGuide provides training opportunities designed to help the region's wireless and new media developers accelerate the delivery of mobile applications, content and devices to market, offering valuable information on technical engineering, business development and fundraising.

"To develop WaveGuide and deliver the greatest value to our mobile community, Wavefront has partnered with thought leaders in mobile technology, device and test equipment manufacturers, mobile operators, management and finance to bring world-class tools and resources to the region and keep growing its overall knowledge base,” said James Maynard, president of Wavefront.

WaveGuide is one of Wavefront's three primary services including training, testing and advisory services for the mobile development and new media community. All are designed to speed developers' go-to-market time in a capital-efficient manner while decreasing their risk. In this manner, Wavefront lowers the barriers to market entry for mobile developers which stimulates and encourages greater innovation and regional economic development.

Two WaveGuide sessions are coming up and both are free, but pre-registration is required:

WaveGuide Business Seminar: How to Access Government Capital

Nov. 25, 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. (PST)

2010 Commerce Center, Suite 1600 - 800 Robson Street, Vancouver, BC

Learn more about support from Canada's National Research Council and its Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Tax Incentive Program and the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

This training session will provide information on the NRC-IRAP program and potential financial assistance offered to growth-oriented Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The program is delivered by an extensive integrated network of 260 professionals in 100 communities across the country. The SR&ED program is the largest single source of federal government support for industrial R&D. The SR&ED program gives claimants cash refunds and/or tax credits for their expenditures on eligible R&D work done in Canada and is designed to encourage Canadian businesses of all sizes, and in all sectors to conduct research and development (R&D) in Canada. The NSERC is Canada's premier funding organization with an annual budget approaching $1Billion and helps companies mitigate their R&D risk by partnering with NSERC and an academic researcher.
